Applying for Child Passport

  • Canadian child passports are valid for 5 years and cannot be extended. When a child’s passport expires, a new application must be submitted each time until the child turns 16, at which point they can apply for an adult passport.

Who can apply for a Canadian Child Passport

  • A parent, provided they are not separated or divorced.
  • The sole parent with custody, in cases of separation or divorce, supported by appropriate documentation such as a divorce judgment.
