Skilled Worker In PEI

This program aims to address the high demand for skilled positions that cannot be filled by the local labour force.

Although this stream is mainly for skilled worker in PEI, however it may be used for outside of Canada if PEI employer has received authorisation from PWI immigration office before issuing a job offer. If it is approved, a work permit support letter shall be issued to the candidates to apply for a work permit.

Program Eligibility

Factors 
Express Entry Profile–         Need not required to be registered under the Federal Express Entry program
Age–       Be between 18 and 59 Years old
Job Offer

–       Have a full-time, permanent job offer from a PEI employer.

–       Have position in TEER 0,1,2 or 3 (Previously National Occupational Classification Skill Level 0, A, or B)

Level of Education–       Have completed at least a two-year post-secondary degree or diploma certificate.
Work Experience

TEER 0,1,2 OR 3

(Previously NOC 0, A, or B)

2 Years in the past 5 Years

–       Have at least two years of full-time work experience within the previous 5 years.

Language Proficiency

–         Min. CLB 4, or

–         Declaration on PEIW-02 – Workforce Job Offer Form

–         Demonstrate sufficient fluency in either English or French with Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4, or

–         Have a signed language declaration (PEIW-02: Workforce job offer Form) from the employer making the job offer indicating with employs proficiency in English or French

Connection to Province

–       Be living and employed in Prince Edward Island (PEI) on a valid work permit.

–       Skilled foreign nationals outside Canada may also be eligible for the PEI Express Entry or Skilled Worker Outside of PEI streams. The candidates must have legal status in their country of residence.

Settlement Funds–       Meet Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) settlement funds requirement.
Intention to Reside in PEI–       Show their intent to settle in Prince Edward Island.

Application Procedure

  • Eligible candidates must create and submit a profile in the PEI pool of candidates, where they are ranked using the PEI Labour Impact Category Ranking System.
  • The highest-ranking candidates are periodically invited to submit a complete application through draws in their respective categories. Successful candidates receive a provincial nomination from PEI.
  • After obtaining a provincial nomination, applicants have six months to submit a federal application for Canadian permanent residence. This involves completing a paper-based application, which is then sent by mail to the designated application center.
  • Paper-based PNP applications for permanent residence are typically processed within an 18-month timeframe.
