If you completed a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Manitoba and finished a Mitacs Elevate or Accelerate internship, the Graduate Internship Pathway under the Manitoba International Education Stream may let you apply for provincial nomination without a job offer. What Is the Graduate Internship Pathway?
The Graduate Internship Pathway is a Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) route designed for international graduates who paired their studies with hands-on research or industry experience through Mitacs. Unlike Manitoba’s Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream or the Temporary Foreign Workers pathway, this route does not require an existing job offer — your Mitacs internship and completed degree do the work instead.

- Open to both Master’s and Doctoral graduates from designated Manitoba institutions.
Who Can Apply
You may be eligible if you:
- Completed a Master’s or Doctoral degree at a designated learning institution located in Manitoba (graduates of institutions outside Manitoba are not eligible under this pathway).
- Completed your degree within the three years immediately before you apply.
- Completed a Mitacs Elevate or Accelerate internship (including Accelerate Entrepreneur) with an eligible industry or research enterprise in Manitoba.
- Score at least CLB/NCLC 7 in English or French, with a test taken within the last two years.
- Are currently living in Manitoba and intend to remain in the province.
This stream is designed for international graduates who have completed a Mitacs Elevate or Accelerate internship and obtained a Masters or PhD degree in Manitoba, even if they have a job offer or not.

Do I need a job offer for the Graduate Internship Pathway?
No. This is the defining feature of this pathway — you can apply without a job offer, provided you meet the Mitacs internship, education, language, and settlement requirements.
What is the difference between Mitacs Accelerate and Mitacs Elevate?
Accelerate is typically a project-based internship connecting graduate students or postdocs with an industry partner. Elevate is a postdoctoral fellowship combining applied research with professional development training. Both qualify if completed with an eligible Manitoba enterprise.
Can I apply if I studied outside Manitoba but did my Mitacs internship there?
No. The degree itself must be completed at a designated institution physically located in Manitoba — the internship location alone does not satisfy the education requirement.
