What Is the Alberta Opportunity Stream?
The Alberta Opportunity Stream is one of four Worker-category pathways under the AAIP, alongside Express Entry, the Accelerated Tech Pathway, and the Rural Renewal Stream. It accepts applications year-round on a first-come, first-served basis and does not require an Express Entry profile. Eligibility depends on your job offer, work experience, education, and language proficiency — with language requirements varying by occupation skill level.

How the Application Process Works
- Confirm your occupation is not on Alberta’s ineligible occupations list or Canada’s high/low-wage refusal list.
- Applications are accepted year-round, first-come, first-served — no EOI ranking system.
- Submit your application with proof of job offer, work experience, education, and language test results.
- If successful, you’ll be notified of your provincial nomination and receive an official package by mail.
- After nomination, you have six months to submit a paper-based application for Canadian permanent residence.
