The Rural Entrepreneur Stream provides an avenue for Alberta to endorse proficient and skilled entrepreneurs aspiring to initiate a new business or acquire an existing one within a rural community in Alberta.

| Work Experience | – Minimum 3 Years as an active business owner/manager, or – Minimum 4 years as a senior manager in the last 10 years. |
| Language Proficiency | – Minimum CLB Level 4 in English or French language. – Additional points for language awarded for spouse’s / common-law partner’s |
| Personal Net Worth Requirement | – Minimum $300,000 CAD. – Candidates own or spouse’s or common-law partner’s |
| Investment Requirement | – Minimum $100,000 CAD – From candidates own or spouse’s or common-law partner’s personal holdings. – Higher investment will be given more points. |
| Business Location | – Rural community (Outside the Edmonton and Calgary Census Metropolitan Areas – under population of 100,000 |
| Business Requirement | – Minimum ownership 51% for a new business – Business partners must be Citizen or Permanent Resident, or – 100% ownership for business succession. – Business must not be in the list of in-eligible businesses. – Create minimum 1 full time job for Canadian citizen or permanent resident in case of new businesses |
